Expressing dissatisfaction [in 1857] with Lubeck [i.e. Ernst Lübeck?] and saying he has given the work [preparing the vocal score of Roméo et Juliette] to Théodore Ritter instead, mentioning the "petite cabale" that has been organized in Aix la Chapelle against L'enfance du Christ because Liszt imposed that work on the people of Aix and Cologne, sending corrections [in 1859] to the vocal score of Roméo [they do not appear in the published score], mentioning, Benazet, Adolphe Samuel in Brussels, articles by Commetant and Gatayes, and thanking him [in 1862] for sending some works, which he will not criticize because he found in them such an absence of ideas that he has nothing to say about them, discussing Rieter-Biedermann's wish to publish his orchestration of "Le roi des aulnes" [i.e. Schubert's "Erlkönig"], saying that Brandus is publishing the vocal score of his Béatrice et Bénédict, a work that would be successful in Germany if it were well translated, etc.
